Committee
Our committee is made up of students from our uni's. You can also view our past committees to see who has led CAOS in previous years.
Meet the dedicated committee members who make the Manchester Universities' Choir and Orchestra Society possible:
-
Paris Virnuls (He/Him)
President (UoM Chair)
Hi, I'm Paris! I was advised to start my introduction with something cooler than that but I'm the chair and I can do what I want (that's how it works). I'm a third year Chemistry student and this will be my second year on committee so I'm super excited to work with everyone! When I'm not doing scary chair things you can find me in the tenor section, cursing out my knitting, playing classical guitar or warbling out a tune on the flute. Looking forward to all the lovely people I'm going to meet and cool events we're going to plan this year :)
-
Amelie Lingard (She/Her)
President (MMU Chair)
Hi, I’m Amelie I’m a 3rd year music and sound student at MMU. I’m super excited to co lead this committee this year, to do two brilliant concerts and meet you all! If I’m not singing my heart out in choir I’m probably walking my dog, composing, playing the piano or reading a book.
-
Lucy Holmes (She/Her)
Treasurer (MMU)
Hi I’m Lucy! I’m a second year, studying human geography at MMU and I’m an alto in the choir! When I’m not at CAOS (or in the pub after rehearsals), I am probably on a run or doing LEGO with a good show on. I look forward to seeing you all next year!

Sviatoslav Cherniak (He/Him)
Social Secretary
Definitely one of the social secs. A bass 2 normally(though not always). Have an academic year 3 economics student alter ego(do not engage at risk of me not shutting up about my degree). Have a strange habit of getting into places where I feel I really shouldn't be but always try to make the most fun out of it. See ya around!
-

Publicity Secretary
Hi, I’m Alex a second year Student studying drama and contemporary performance at MMU. An I’m in the chior, I love getting to travel and watching true crime documentary’s. I can’t wait to be on this years committee.
-
Andrew Chang (He/Him)

Hi! I'm so excited to make a return on committee for another year (I play viola and sing bass) -residentials are so fantastic at bringing people together and creating the funnest memories ever!!! When I'm not thinking about CAOS, you can find me ice skating, beekeeping, reading or just generally doing something very random - please feel free to ask me about residentials, CAOS or anything else!
-
Yongqing Gan (She/Her)
Choir Librarian
Hi, this is Yongqing Gan. You can also call me Victoria. I am fond of collecting items with a story behind them, such as the stamps on the letters sent to me by others, the fridge magnets I bought during my travels, and the stones that are white on the outside and black on the inside from the White Cliffs. These objects can better document my life than a diary, which can easily be fabricated. As for my self - description, I am a person who has a great passion for life. I enjoy experiencing a wide variety of cuisines, though I am not particularly skilled at cooking. I can play various musical instruments, including the piano, flute, and ocarina. I like to try different sports, but I am not very keen on regular exercise. I have a strong love for listening to music, so I really enjoy being part of a choir.
-
Jodie Glasgow (She/Her)
Orchestra Librarian
Hi there! I'm Jodie and I will be the orchestra librarian this year. I play the violin as part of the orchestra, and I'm also a member of the choir as a soprano. I am a final year PhD student at UoM studying inorganic chemistry. Outside of uni and CAOS I like to climb, play video games and satiating my tea addiction
-
Euan McCabe (He/They)
Webmaster
Hi, I'm Euan and I'm a second year Mechanical Engineering student at UoM. I play percussion, and vaguely know how to use a computer. I adore CAOS and am so excited to make this upcoming year as fabulous as possible! I am the same person as the UoM Secretary.
-
Maria Fretwell (She/Her)
MMU Inclusions Officer
Hello! I’m Maria and I’m here to be your point of contact if there’s any issues or concerns. Whether it be with people withing the society or merely meeting new people on those first initial rehearsals. I’ll always listen to what you say and make you feel included within the society. And most importantly, have fun! If you’re ever struggling to find your group, come to me and I’ll get you sorted.
-
Sam Furr (He/Him)

Hi, I'm Sam and I'm a 4th year Maths student at UoM. I've been part of CAOS since 2022 and I've been playing the flute since I was 8 years old. I love CAOS so much but when I'm not at rehearsal, you can find me reading, baking, or questioning my life choices.
